You sound like a friend whose family moved him from San Diego to Purcellville, VA.

You wrote "one-horse town in Northern VA" and that's about how my buddy described living in Purcellville in contrast to San Diego. I'm not sure why he thought that it was less exciting. I snoozed in San Diego.
